BEST COMEBACKS IN BOXING HISTORY

1. GEORGE FOREMAN- this one to me is easy. the man retired from boxing in 1977 and didnt return till 1987. Then he lost a title bid to evander holyfield in 1991. finally at the age of 45 he beat michaeal moorer to become the oldest champion in heavyweight history.

2. MUHAMMAD ALI- forced away from boxing for refusing induction into the military , he was retired from 1967 till 1970 and boy from 1970 till 1977 was he one of the most dominant champs ever.

3. EVANDER HOLYFIELD- in 1994 after holyfield looked old and washed up in losing his title to michael moorer he retired. a year later he returned and set out to beat mike tyson twice, once for the belt, also he beat ray mercer and avenged the moorer defeat by knockout.

4. SUGAR RAY LEONARD- with only one fight in over 3 years and that being a lackluster win over kevin howard in a fight ray was even dropped in, sugar decided to not only come back and fight for a belt but he fought the great marvelous marvin hagler without a tuneup and at his first fight at middleweight and won. he also went on to win the super middleweight and light heavyweight belts. easily one of the ten best boxers in history .bar none.

5. ROBERTO DURAN- oh where to begin. he was thought to be used up several times . after being beaten by journey man kirklang lang and also after being knocked out by tommy hearns but no he came back and won the jr. middleweight and middleweight titles he fought nearly 30 years .like sugar ray leonard no doubt he is a top 10 boxer in the sports history.

6. SUGAR RAY ROBINSON- universally accepted as the best boxer in the sports history, but after winning the welterweight and middleweight titles he challenged for the light heavyweight title and lost, he retired for 2 and a half years after he returned he lost again this time to ralph tiger jones, but then he returned to form and flattened bobo olson in 2 rounds to regain his middleweight title.

7. JAMES TONEY- after the unbeaten lights out lost a decision to roy jones in 1994 he then lost to montell griffin twice in close fights and also to drake thadsi. but then toney got serious and won the cruiserweight title from undefeated champ vasily jirov then he moved up to heavyweight and beat holyfield

8. EDER JOFRE- after a 3 year retirement he came back and won the featherweight and jr. lightweight belts. and he won both these titles the same year and the featherweight belt fronm vincent saldivar.

9. GLEN JOHNSON- the road warrior always fought hard but he lost a lot of close fight and he seemed in route to becoming a stepping stone for fighters then all of a sudden in one year he knocked out roy jones and decisioned antonio tarver for the light heavy weight title and won fighter of the year.

10. BERNARD HOPKINS- thought to be on the downslide after losing close decisions to jermain taylor and joe calzage but he came back and beat antonio tarver, winky wright, kelly pavlic and even regained the light heavyweight belt from jean pascal to become the oldest champ in the sports history at 46.

HONORABLE MENTIONS VINNIE PAZIENZA COMING BACK FROM A NEAR FATAL CAR CRASH THAT GAVE HIM A BROKE NECK. HE NEVER REGAINED A BELT BUT HE BECAME A TOP FIGHTER AGAIN.
