"We Were Soldiers Once...and Young" and "Pearl Harbor" are my personal favorites. Heartbreaking, but also inspiring.

Great Hub. I teach college history and of your top ten, I regularly use Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, and Three Kings. I have occasionally used Patton and Apocalypse Now. I will preview Letters from Iwo Jima and see if it will work.

From your longer list, I have successfully used Schindler's List, The Killing Fields, Hotel Rwanda, Braveheart, Black Hawk Down, and The Great Escape. My Hubs are generally about Holocaust history, but I do have a couple of Hubs discussing how I use film in the classroom.
