BEST COUNTRY SINGERS EVER

1. HANK WILLIAMS- He was a pioneer in the honky tonk beginnings in the 1940s. Although he is a great singer his biggest legacy is his song writing which he has done for himself as well as others.

2. GEORGE JONES- He used to sing on street corners in his home state of Texas for tips growing up. From there he took off and his songs usually reflect his life.

3. KITTY WELLS- Easily the best female country singer of all time. She came around in the early 50s and took country music by storm. She could make you laugh and cry in the same song.

4. JIMMIE RODGERS- He was the first singer to ever get inducted in the country music hall of fame. He only made music for 6 years but he used folk, blues and jazz to distinguish himself from his peers.

5. ROY ACUFF- The first living singer to be inducted into the country music hall of fame. He was the face of the GRAND OLE OPRY for almost 40 years.

6. LORETTA LYNN- Most of this kentucky womans music was written by her and about her life which made her very popular to the regular person on the street.

7. LEFTY FRIZZELL- He hit the scene in 1950 and polarized crowds. He had 4 songs in countrys top 10 at the same time.  A feat that was only equalled by the beatles.

8. MERLE HAGGARD- He would sing about every subject you can think of. From political songs to drinking songs he has made them all and he sang them with true passion.

9. EDDY ARNOLD- He charted more hits than any other country singer in history. He came out in the 40s as a honky tonk and in the 1960s he rebuilt his career all over again.

10. ERNEST TUBB- He was a great writer and a good singer but his best work was his radio show that helped launch the career of over 30 country singers.

Good hub, except for one glaring error. The album cover of Jimmie Rodges is the 1950s/60s pop singer, not the Father of Country Music from the 1920s and 30s.

Kitty Wells was indeed a pioneer, especially for female sountry singers, but I don't think she was anywhere near one of the best. If you want the best female country singer ever, all you have to do is listen to Patsy Cline.
